The MSDD was established in 2010 and uses pre-existing electronic healthcare data from multiple sources to explore a variety of approaches to improve the FDA’s ability to quickly identify and assess safety issues.

Dr. Freedman is the Clinical and Translational Epidemiology Branch Chief of the Epidemiology and Genomics Research Program, part of the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences at the National Cancer Institute of NIH. Our 271st and 272nd DB profiles belong to the Health Nutrition & Population Statistics (HNPS) Database (USA) and the German Health Risk Institute (HRI) Database (Germany).
HNPS is a comprehensive database of health, nutrition and population started by the World Bank in 1960. The database includes 214 world economies with over 250 indicators.
